In this advanced workshop, participants will deepen their expertise in Sandtray therapy through a combination of interactive lectures, class discussions, and hands-on experiential exercises. Dr. Garrett will explore the foundational principles of Sandtray techniques and provide participants with advanced skills to integrate this modality effectively with individuals, couples, and family.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Expand Knowledge of Trauma’s Neurobiological Effects: Participants will explore and analyze Sandtray examples to understand the neurobiological effects of trauma, utilizing a play therapy framework to process and discuss the implications for therapeutic intervention.
  2. Advanced Trauma-Focused Sandtray Techniques for Adults: Participants will demonstrate proficiency in at least three advanced Sandtray techniques, applying targeted directives to facilitate trauma processing in play therapy settings.
  3. Advanced Trauma-Focused Sandtray Techniques for Children: Participants will demonstrate proficiency in at least three advanced Sandtray techniques, utilizing child-appropriate directives for trauma processing in play therapy settings.
  4. Genogram Sandtray Protocol for Adults and Children: Through experiential play, participants will explore the impact of the Genogram Sandtray protocol in both adult and child play therapy, examining its utility for understanding family dynamics and generational trauma.
  5. Integrating the Adult Attachment Inventory (AAI) with Sandtray: Participants will engage in experiential exercises to demonstrate the clinical applications of the Adult Attachment Inventory (AAI) through Sandtray in play therapy, enhancing therapeutic outcomes in both adult and child populations.
  6. Sandtray Techniques for Couples and Family Therapy: Participants will examine key Sandtray in play therapy techniques designed to address the unique needs of couples and families, and will learn how to integrate these methods effectively in both clinical and play therapy contexts.
